When someone searches "plumber near me" or "web developer in Surrey", Google shows the map pack first. This checklist covers what it takes to get there.

1. Google Business Profile

  • Claim and verify your profile
  • Choose the most specific primary category
  • Add services, service areas, hours, photos and a booking link
  • Post updates at least twice a month

2. Consistent NAP

Your business name, address and phone number must match exactly on your website, Google, Facebook, Yelp, YellowPages and every directory.

3. On-page SEO

  • A unique title and meta description on every page
  • One clear H1 with your main service and city
  • A page for each core service, and for key cities you serve
  • LocalBusiness and FAQ schema markup
  • Fast mobile load times

4. Reviews

Ask every happy customer, make it one tap with a direct review link, and reply to every review, good or bad.

5. Local links and citations

  • Chamber of commerce and board of trade memberships
  • Industry directories and supplier partner pages
  • Local sponsorships, events and community groups
  • Guest articles for local business blogs

6. Track what matters

Set up Google Search Console and watch impressions, clicks and calls from your Business Profile every month.
