Google Business Profile Guide: Get More Calls From Google Maps
How to set up and optimize your Google Business Profile to get more calls, directions and website visits.
For most local businesses, Google Business Profile drives more calls than the website itself. Here's how to make yours work harder.
Set it up right
- Use your real business name, with no keyword stuffing
- If customers don't visit you, set it up as a service-area business and list the cities you serve
- Choose one precise primary category and a few secondary ones
- Add your phone number, website, hours and booking link
Fill every section
- Services with short descriptions and prices where possible
- At least 10 real photos: team, work, vehicles, location
- A 750-character description that names your services and region
- Q&A: add and answer common questions yourself
Keep it active
- Post offers, updates or project photos weekly
- Reply to every review within 48 hours
- Update holiday hours
Get more reviews, automatically
Send a review link by SMS after every job. Automated review requests typically multiply review volume, one of the strongest signals for the map pack.
Connect it to your website
Link to a matching service or city page, keep your name, address and phone identical, and add LocalBusiness schema to your site.
